Tom's Pantry

Tom's Pantry for the week of September 1st, 2020.

Baking and delivering this week!

Hello Folks.

You can review my baking schedule on my website: http://www.tomspantry.ca/.

I will bake this Friday September 5th for pick up at my home on Friday evening.

I will attend the Vankleek Hill Farmers Market this Saturday September 5th from 9.30am to 12.30 pm. We welcome pre-orders and public browsing. Also join us for some live music.

I will deliver to homes on my trip on Saturday to Vankleek Hill. I will travel through Crysler, Limoges, Casselman and St-Isidore on the way there in the early morning. In the afternoon however, I need to return directly home without any other stops.

In addition, I can have bread with me during my visit to Chesterville on Saturday evening.

I need your order please by Thursday evening 8pm in order to prepare enough levain overnight. See the product descriptions and ordering considerations here. And then, view the price list and order online with Local Line

Next week, Thursday September 10th, I will be at the Parkdale Farmers Market in Ottawa and I will perform home deliveries in Ottawa and in the region north-west of Berwick.

There is a minimum order of two loaves for a home delivery on a scheduled route.

Take advantage of my organic flours and baking ingredients, also available in the virtual store.

I am all Grown Up!

Wow, I turned 60 years on Monday yesterday. Already! It was a great day, a day off work, breakfast in bed, lunch with Yannick and Angie, and a nice walk in the sun along the Rideau Canal with drinks at the Canal Ritz in Ottawa.

Jeepers, it may be time to decide what I want to be when I grow up. Maybe a baker, let's give that a try for a while.

Get a first-hand look at local, sustainable food production in Prescott-Russell and SDG Counties on Saturday, September 12 at this Farm Hop with Canadian Organic Growers!

Learn about specialty fruit and fruit juice production, see pastured chickens, turkeys, pigs, and cows, witness mushrooms growing on logs, tour a vegetable farm and learn about Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), bring antiques and get two free assessments, go on nature walks, and see robots work on a dairy farm.

The Farm Hop is a free, self-guided event that will run in two blocks between 10 AM-12 PM and 12:30 PM-2:30 PM.

You can visit all six farms or choose a few based on your food interests or shopping needs. Due to Provincial Health Regulations pertaining to COVID-19, space is limited and only registered and ticketed participants are allowed to participate.

get through the pandemic - let's Dance!

Dancing is good for the mind, body and soul. Even more so in the challenges of a pandemic. With fall weather setting in, there are less outdoor opportunities. Now is the time to act on that promise made to your loved one - take dancing lessons!

Ballroom dance lessons start again in September in Cornwall, Russell, and Chesterville. Sadly, the lesson program will probably not happen in Crysler.

COVID-19 safety protocoles are in place. They are like the rules in a restaurant. Wear a mask to and from the lesson. You may drop the mask during the lesson. Dance only with your partner and maintain your distance from other dancers. Single dancers are welcome but we cannot rotate dance partners.
