Cooler Weather Readiness Tip
Most of us have forced air furnaces. It is recommended to replace filters and check to make sure that duct vents are cleaned out. If you have electric baseboards or electric wall heaters, make sure that they are clean and that nothing is pushed up against them.

The weather is changing and we are getting into cooler months. Check in with your residents to make sure they are warm and the house temperature is comfortable. They may need to layer up if they go outside.
As a reminder, per Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) and Multnomah County Administrative Rule (MCAR), areas of the home must be maintained at a comfortable temperature.
What are the specific temperature requirements?
State: Per OAR, the house temperature should be between 68 and 85 degrees during the day, and no cooler than 60 degrees during sleeping hours.
Multnomah County only: MCAR requires the house to be no less than 68 degrees during the day when residents are home and not higher than 78 degrees. During sleeping hours, the temperature should be no cooler than 65 degrees.
Making sure that residents are comfortable and safe is a huge part of providing quality care. Thank you for all the work you do with residents to offer them a high quality of life in a homelike setting.
