The application deadline for the Cowichan "Spark" Program is fast approaching, with less than a week left to apply with your new tourism idea for the region.

The program is seeking new tourism ideas for the Cowichan Region that address one or more of the following:

  • Enhance current tourism offerings
  • Create high-quality, low impact tourism experiences
  • Address gaps in tourism products and services
  • Motivate longer stays and repeat visits
  • Increase year-round visitation and tourism spending 
  • Encourage collaboration between tourism operators

2nd Black Tourism "Spark" Program Launched: 
Expanded to include Ontario's Southwest & Hamilton Halton Brant!

It was an exciting night on the field at the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario's Summit event at Tim Hortons stadium in Hamilton on October 22nd!

Black Tourism Working Group members Dionne Bishop, Francoise Yesaya-Keddy and Peter Odle were on hand to officially announce the Black Tourism “Spark” Mentorships & Grants Program in Ontario's Southwest and The Heart of Ontario​!

The initiative aims to spark and support new Black-led tourism ideas and businesses in Ontario’s Southwest and Hamilton Halton Brant regions.

Selected applicants will receive $3,000 in seed funding, $2,000 in tech adoption support and mentorship to help bring their tourism ideas to life.

Indigenous Culinary Tourism Skode Program
​Announced!

Indigenous Tourism Ontario (ITO) and the Tourism Innovation Lab have launched the 5th edition of the Skode Program, this year with a focus on developing Indigenous culinary tourism in the province. 

We are looking to inspire ​Indigenous entrepreneurs, businesses, non-profit organizations and community groups to come forward with new Indigenous culinary tourism ideas and experiences that will authentically represent, celebrate and promote Indigenous food in Ontario.

Selected Finalists will receive mentorship and a $5,000 non-repayable financial contribution to advance their Indigenous culinary tourism businesses and initiatives. One grand prize winner will receive $20,000!
