Welcome to June. It's been a tough six months but not as tough as the previous twelve. Life is starting to get back to "normal". But is it really? Life has always been normal, that is why it's called life. What has changed is our perspective. Life always seems to find a way, but we always seem to stand in the way. Life has not changed, people have changed. Their perspective has changed. We have become more paranoid and obedient and less kind and ambitious. If the past year has taught us anything, it is that we needed a kick in the ass. We needed a cleansing. We needed a wake up call.
As you know, I like to refer to a section of my book in these newsletters to hopefully enlighten you with a little bit of wisdom and perspective. In chapter nine, "Roast Slicers", I talk about how we are all creatures of habit, How we become more complacent and how our lives sometimes become redundant. The last 18 months certainly was not that. We learned to survive. We started to question everything. We started to seek answers. We learned to adapt.
Life once again is finding a way. Businesses are starting to thrive. Travel is booming. Sporting events are seeing fans. Casinos and restaurants are packed. In fact, the biggest problem now is the employee shortage.
We need to embrace "this new normal" and dig deep to understand that the world is continuously changing and we need change with it. Adapt or perish.
