TwistedBrush Tree Studio v2 builds on the success of TwistedBrush Tree Studio v1 with important new features and improvements that position Tree Studio as a even more powerful solution for your tree creation needs. NEW! Scalable Trees

One of the often asked for features of Tree Studio is support for scalable trees. In v1 scalable trees were not supported, adjusting the size of the brush would result in distortion when trying to draw a tree. In v2 scaling a tree is as simple as adjusting the brush size. On the left, the center tree is the default size. The two small trees were drawn after adjusting the brush size smaller. Of course you can go bigger too. The second pic on the left shows a tree 3x as big. Yes, page sizes can be adjusted in version 2! 

NEW! Trees

Tree Studio v2 add some new varieties of trees with palms and cacti. Ok, in most cases a cactus isn't a tree, but, Tree Studio adds a couple of larger cacti. Also bamboo was added to this ArtSet even thought it's not a palm or cactus. Here is a sampling of some of the new trees.

BONUS! Grass Brushes

An added bonus for Tree Studio v2 is a creation of a new ArtSet with 15 grass brushes for creating high-quality grasslands. On the right is the results of one grass brush and a couple of minutes. Oh, the grass brushes can be scaled the same as tree brushes!

NEW! Quick Command Panel

The Quick Command panel gives you a configurable array of buttons you can keep close at hand while working. Resize and reshape the panel to your needs. Add, remove and move buttons to create the layout that works best for you. Quickly show or hide the panel with the [F4] hotkey. Right click to edit a button or add one to an empty slot. [Ctrl] + click to drag a button to a new location. As an added bonus there is some functionality exposed in the Quick Command panel that isn't available anywhere else in Tree Studio. 

NEW! User ArtSets

Often requested is the ability to save brushes. Version 2 adds 5 User ArtSets with 60 brush slots each for storing brushes. Click on a selected brush or right click on the fly-out arrow to popup the list of ArtSets. To add a brush to the User ArtSets click on an empty slot. To delete it, right click on a brush.

NEW! Powerful Brush Effects System

Since User ArtSets have been added you might be thinking where will you get new brushes from. There are a number of ways, user shared brushes in the Pixarra forum, brushes imported from Pro Studio, OR now you can edit brushes right in Tree Studio with the powerful Brush Effects system from Pro Studio. First an IMPORTANT NOTE: Editing brushes is NOT an easy task. There are over 500 different effects that can be combined in 28 effect layers with each effect processed with 100's of modifiers. I think it's safe to say the TwistedBrush brush effects system makes for the most powerful brush engine in existence. Evidenced in the ability with the same engine to draw simple lines or fully detailed tree with a single stroke as can be seen in Tree Studio.

One of the common ways to use the Brush Effects panel is to tweak existing brushes in small ways to meet your needs and now you can do this right in Tree Studio and save them to the User ArtSets.

Additional Layers

Support for additional layers has also been requested frequently. Keeping the same simple interface we have managed to squeeze in a few more slots for layers. The idea it to keep your work flow simple and fast. A simple single click to create a layer with no scrolling. Right click a layer for additional options.

Cursors for Each Tool

Sometimes it's the small things that make the difference in using a program. Tree Studio gets additional small improvements such as custom cursors for each selected tool to remind you what tool is in use.

  • Improved - 4 additional backup versions of each page will now be saved. (.bak1, .bak2, .bak3 and .bak4). These are only manually accessible from the Windows File Explorer.
  • Improved - Lines are subpixel centered to allow for more consistent results.
  • Improved - For modal dialogs pressing Enter while in a text entry field will result in the Ok button.
  • Improved - For modal dialogs pressing Esc while in a text entry field will result in the Cancel button.
  • Changed - Reduced time threshold for non-dynamic tool shortcut key press to 220 millisec.
  • Changed - Drawing tablets are always treated as absolutely positioned even if set to relative in the tablet control panel. 
  • Changed - Default behavior for Tools is non-dynamic.
  • Fixed - Tree Frame effects weren't properly supporting time based effect modifiers after the tfRender effect.
  • Fixed - Updated links in the Help menu for the new support center and forum.
  • Fixed - Drawing a single dab at position 0,0 was not working. 
  • Fixed - When switching applications, at times the key selections where not cleared resulting in color picker actions when not intended.
  • Fixed - Handling of Alt, Shift and Ctrl keys has been changed to address issues of those keys incorrectly being detected as pushed.
