OUR NEXT MEMBER MEETING

Our next general membership meeting will be on Tuesday, July 20th, starting at   7:00 PM at our usual place, the Hill Country Hall in Buchanan Dam. 

Guest speaker will be Texas Parks & Wildlife District Supervisor Patrick Ireland.  He will discuss the results of a recent gill net survey of Lake Buchanan, and provide an annual update on the "State of the Lake". 

Bring your neighbors and friends to the meeting.  This presentation ranks at the top in keeping us informed of our hybrid stocking program success.  We need to grow our membership to include all areas of the Lake.  Stop by the membership table to update your status and volunteer your help for upcoming events. 

GUN RAFFLE tickets will be available at the meeting.  If you haven't purchased yours we still have a few available.  We take cash, check or credit card!

Refreshments will be served.​

Thanks to your support of our fundraisers we were once again able to award $8000 to senior high school students for college scholarships.  Pictured left are LBCC Board VP Nick Zackoff presenting a $2000 award to Grayson Poage of Faith Academy.  

Other winners of $2000 awards were                   Luke Keller, Llano HS;                      Emily Carley, Burnet HS and              Jack Leflet of Marble Falls HS.

HYBRID STOCKING

On a beautiful May 6th morning we picked up 20 boxes of Hybrid Striper fry from Austin International Airport and delivered them to three boats & crew waiting to distribute them into our Lake Buchanan.  

Each box contained approximately 50,000 little grey dots that, if you look closely, appeared to be a small gray cloud floating at the bottom of a water filled plastic bag.

Our volunteer distribution crews were responsible for equalizing the water temperature in the bag with the lake water temperature before slowly releasing the fry into the lake.  The crews reported all went well so in a few years we should have another good crop of legal size Hybrids to fish.  Thanks to all who helped with the stocking!

Come to our meeting on Tuesday the 20th, to hear how past fry have matured.

September 4th is right around the corner and we are starting to plan for the event.  Besides the great fried catfish dinner, a big part of this fundraising event is the SILENT AUCTION.

  Many of you know George Bold.  George always managed the silent auction; keeping track of the many donated auction items, setting up for the event, monitoring the bidding on items, and collecting payment for the sold items.  Unfortunately for us, George decided he needs a break, so he has deservedly retired from the event. 

SO, WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?  We need help with the silent auction to make it the success it has been in years past. 

We need the donations of items for the auction.  ~~  We need people who will go out and solicit auction items.  ~~  We need help in tracking the donations, setting up and monitoring the sale; and we need a "cashier".                                                                   If you will help us with any of these needs, please contact LBCC President                                Ron Abshier at 512-470-1138, or [email protected],                                            or email us at [email protected]           

OTHER COMING EVENTS 

Our annual gun raffle is not really a coming event; it has been going on for a while.  The drawing will be held at the annual Fish Fry mentioned above. Contact any of the LBCC Board members if you would like to purchase a chance on winning one of the three guns being raffled. Or come to our meeting described above.

Also at the Fish Fry, Sept. 4th, we will kick off a $500 Visa Gift Card Raffle sponsored by Llano National Bank. 

              Golf Tournament October 9th. Lighthouse Country Club, Kingsland.                 This is a date and location change from previously published info.
