donate any amount and PV schools get $100!

Tomorrow is the last day of the Annual Campaign!

For the PV Schools Foundation Annual Campaign, as of Friday we have 72% parent participation and we have raised $916k but we need your participation to reach our goal!

To help us reach the finish line, a generous District family has offered to make an additional $100 gift to the fund for EVERY FIRST TIME DONOR, regardless of the amount of their gift. If you have been on the fence and never given to the Annual Campaign, this is for you!

Make a gift of any amount and this anonymous family will kick in an extra $100 to support our schools. It’s a pretty great multiplier when $20 turns into $120 – and in the end, it’s our kids that benefit.

We are a small community, and we need EVERYONE to join the effort. Whether it’s a contribution of $20 or $20,000 - every gift matters.

Students will be decorating paper bags in their classrooms to take home and fill with food for the Second Harvest Food Bank. We hope you will send your Ormondale student with a bag full of food to donate during our food drive week, November 4th-8th!  Last year we earned a bronze award from Second Harvest for our collection efforts -- lets beat that this year!

Bins will be available outside of the Ormondale office for donations 11/4-11/8 and we'll have volunteers during car line drop off to help as well.  If you'd like to help, please contact Dana Hartman ([email protected]).

Great Flag Football Season 2019/20

Time is a valuable commodity.  This Flag Football season has been an opportunity to invest in yourself by learning more about the game of football, by learning how to be a good teammate, by learning how to be an impact player on your team, and by taking risks and building connections with your classmates.

A key theme this season was growth and improvement.  Over the course of the season, each team incorporated a growth mindset by constantly working to improve their skills, teamwork, and confidence.

Congratulations to all of the players for concluding another successful season.  Thanks for demonstrating your Panther Pride by always representing your school in a positive way!  Along with the players, a huge shout out to all of the parents and fans for your unconditional support of our athletes.

A giant thank you to all of our coaches:
5/6th grade team: Jose Verdusco & Antonio Levaggi
7/8th grade team: Dan Flahavan, Jake Keller & Dylan Keller

Congratulations to the 5/6th grade team who progressed over the course of the season and finished strong with a win over Fletcher Middle School.

Special Congrats to the 7/8th grade team for finishing first in the SSIL and winning the Championship on 10/24 by beating Armstrong 16-14 in a come from behind victory.

Go Panthers!

CMS SPRING MUSICAL 2020

Ariel, a mermaid in a magical underwater kingdom longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above with the human Prince Eric.  But first she’ll have to defy her father King Triton, and make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula to trade her tail for legs.  But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.  The show features a large ensemble with many varied roles, irresistible songs, and a fantastic creative opportunity for rich costumes and sets.  Exploring loyalty and family relationships, the show explores what it means to become an independent young person while still holding true to your past.  We are producing the “Junior” version which is developed specifically for middle schools, edited for content and musical ranges, and runs about one hour.

Tentative schedule:

November 14, 2019:  PARENT INFORMATION MEETING at 7:00 p.m. in the Music Room for those whose students are interested in cast and/or crew

December 5 & December 9:  Cast Auditions in the Music Room & Tech/Crew Interviews in Room 503 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.

December 16:  Callbacks in the Music Room and Room 503 (3:00 – 6:00 p.m.)

December 20:  Cast list announced

January 6 – March 20, 2020:  Rehearsals Mondays thru Thursdays, times TBD

March 19-24:  TECH week & dress rehearsals (3:00 – 7:00 p.m.)

March 25 & March 26:  Performances at Portola Valley Theatre Conservatory

There is NO COST to participate in the show.  Students who are interested in reading the script can check out copies in the CMS Library.

Your foundation dollars at work: New Library Rocking Chairs

There’s nothing better than a rocking chair to calm kids down. So why not 25 of them?

With a grant from the Portola Valley Schools Foundation, Ormondale Librarian Suzy Dickinson purchased new rocking chairs to replace the old ones, which were torn and worn out from too much use. The new ones are easier to clean, and stackable so she can put them away when they aren’t in use.

“Babies love to be rocked. Mothers love to rock their babies. And judging by the rockin’ and rolling in our library, the kids are loving them,” Dickinson said. “Children are naturally active and busy. It just makes sense that they would enjoy rocking while they read.”
