mabel's labels pto fundraiser
It's almost summer, and you know what that means? Swimming! Hiking! Sleepovers! Camp! But did you know it also means LOST CLOTHING!
Help your kids keep their stuff by using waterproof clothing labels on, well, everything! Shoes, helmets, jackets, water bottles, sports equipment and just about anything else.
The PTO has teamed up with Mabel's Label's to offer packs of customizable labels to slap on stuff your kids use (and lose)!
Visit http://campaigns.mabelslabels.com and search for Portola Valley PTO to start shopping.
Note that after entering Portola Valley PTO, a small banner will appear at the top of the page and you are set to shop. It's a subtle confirmation, so if you are not sure they counted your order to PV PTO, then feel free to send them a reply to your receipt. If you have questions, please email Stefanie Trenchard ([email protected]).
You'll give your kid's items a chance to return home AND support the PTO (who doesn't love bbqs, cocoa breakfasts & assemblies)!

INCOMING 4TH GRADER EVENTS FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS (for current 3rd graders)
Incoming 4th Grade Parent Meeting at CMS - Transition to CMS -Tuesday, May 14th at noon
This is the same content as the November meeting but the tour will go to different classrooms. This is a chance to learn more about Corte Madera and ask questions.
Cocoa Breakfast and School Tour at CMS for current 3rd graders - Thursday, May 16th at 7:30 am
A favorite event! The 3rd graders will gather in the 4th/5th grade courtyard to enjoy cocoa and bagels with fellow students and parents - a regular perk for our CMS 4th and 5th graders. When the bell rings they will have a tour of the school and classrooms.
Students should be dropped off at Corte Madera at 7:30 to begin their day and parents please feel free to walk your child in and visit. There will be signs and friendly faces in front of the school directing students and visiting parents to the 4th/5th courtyard.
Parents may DEFINITELY join for the cocoa portion of the morning (7:30-8:00) and parking can be found in the lot in spots marked "visitor" or street parking on side and main street just past the entrance of CMS. Please do not park in spots marked "staff". Staff and current CMS parents will be there during and after if you have any questions.
And mark your calendar...Tuesday, August 20th for the 4th Grade Welcome and Orientation to Corte Madera School

Walk-to-Washington walkathon is 5/17, 2:30-3:00 pm
The Annual Walk-to-Washington is the major fundraiser for the DC trip. All proceeds will benefit 4th - 7th grade (funds are deposited into class accounts to offset the cost of the Washington DC trip when they reach 8th grade).
Each grade has its own fundraising goal which is listed on the donation form. These funds help keep the trip cost as low as possible and ensure that all students have the opportunity to travel. PVSD counts on the generosity of the community to help make the trip possible for all eligible students. It is also great practice for the students to articulate the event and their fundraising purpose to family and friends!
REMEMBER...
Students that turn in their forms by end of school Thursday, 5/16 will be entered in a raffle that will be announced during the Walk!!
AND, each grade that raises their total $ goal (# of students x $ goal per student) by the deadline of Wednesday, May 22nd will win a summer treat for their entire grade!
Donations forms were sent home or you can print up your own.

IS YOUR CHILD INTERESTED IN LEARNING FRENCH?
Registration is open! EFBA (Education Française Bay Area), a nonprofit organization promoting bilingualism, has opened registration for next Fall’s program, which will be held at Woodland School in Ladera (360 La Cuesta Dr, Portola Valley). Discounts are available for those that sign-up soon!
Classes are offered based on age and language level (native and non-native), and are held 2x per week for 1.5 hours each class session throughout the school year. The Francophone program is held on Mondays & Wednesdays 3:30-5:00pm and the French as a Second Language program is held on Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30-5:00pm. EFBA is a unique French school for children ages from 5 to 14.
Since French is a minority language in the Bay Area, they have created several programs aiming to offer sufficient exposure to the language to help children become bilingual effortlessly and willingly. They offer 3 interdependent programs throughout the year.
You can find more details about EFBA’s after-school program at https://efba.us/french-lessons-bay-area/.
If you have any questions about the Portola Valley program, please contact local PVSD mom, Anne Fazioli-Khiari, at [email protected], or EFBA’s Academic Program Coordinator, Emilie Nolf at [email protected].
