PAT PHELAN CHAIRS CHARITY TOURNAMENT
to BENEFIT LOCAL VETERANS with PTSD
and TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES
“It’s NOT too late to help our veterans!” Pat Phelan, Southbridge resident, is chairing the fourth annual Home Base SWFL golf tournament on November 11, 2019, at the Pelican’s Nest Golf Course.
Donations and proceeds from the tournament provide mental health care at no charge for local veterans and their families in coordination with Lee County Health, as well as health and wellness fitness programs open to all veterans, again at no charge, hosted at FGCU.
Twenty veterans commit suicide each day; good mental health care can help veterans cope, and improve their lives and those of their families and friends. “Last year we raised $170,000,” reported Pat, “ and this year we are hoping to raise even more. This short video shows why we are invested so strongly. We are giving back!”
How can you help?
-
Donate any amount of money to the fundraiser. Make out your checks to Home Base SWFL. Mail or deliver to Pat Phelan at 3500 Ballybridge Circle #102.
If Pat collects $300 by October 31 from our residents, Southbridge community will have a “community contributors sign” posted on the golf course. You can also purchase a separate sign honoring a veteran for $300.
-
Buy raffle tickets (you do not have to be present to win!) Prizes have been donated by local merchants and include luxury restaurant gift certificates, salon spa treatments, original art; last year two Southbridge residents won raffle prizes! Tickets are 1/$10; 3/$20; 10/$50. You can buy them from Pat until November 10.
-
Participate in the online silent auction. The silent auction section on the tournament website will be live November 4-11. Among the prizes are a cruise, a Nantucket vacation including hotel and golf, a generous gift basket from Dillards.
-
Forward this newsletter to friends who might be interested in contributing or who may want to join the silent auction.
-
Check with the Southbridge golfing foursome about registering to play next year: The golfing tee times are sold out for this year. Tom Lucas, Alan Smith, Norm Stuckenschneider, and Bob Winters signed up to play before registration was closed. Find out how they did it.
