September NEWSLETTER

Do you remember the first day of school when you were 3-5 years old? Maybe not, but it probably included a little Anxiety mixed with Excitement, Laughter, New friends, and Smiling teachers. That was all evident last week when Escuela Cooperativa opened its doors and welcomed 44 new families. That's right, we've doubled our size to accommodate more children from the community. Thanks to your generosity and overwhelming enthusiasm from the Sayulita community, we have two classrooms, a newly landscaped playground and an expanded team of four committed teachers.

Our team of four teachers (Natalia, Martha, Lupita and Ana) met together in July for two days to coordinate how to ensure that doubling the number of children would work well in the same space previously dedicated to 25. They staggered the hours for entry/exit, recess and lunch. They also planned a celebration to kick off the new school year. Families joined together for several hours of sharing food, dancing and getting to know each other.
