    With over 30+ airplanes in attendance throughout the weekend, the Lone Pine Backcountry Fly-In was a raving success!  The 4 day event included camping out, multiple groups flying out to explore various desert strips, flight briefings, jam sessions, and even a taco truck! Special thanks deserves to be mentioned for the many hours of prep put in by local pilots Dustin, Matt, Katerina, Gabe, and most especially Monty (& Anna)!!

    Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF) flies around the world utilizing C-206's, Caravans, and Quest Kodiak's to bring food, supplies, doctors, pastors, Bibles, and other goods and serves to some of the farthest corners -and hardest airstrips- of the earth.  I had the privilege of working for them years ago.  They are debuting a full length film that is "A documentary exploring faith, passion and how hope emerges from tragedy, ENDS OF THE EARTH weaves together true stories of Mission Aviation Fellowship pilots — past and present — who strive with missionaries and local believers to take the gospel to the most remote places on earth."

    I’m passionate about our local SoCal/Central California recreational airstrips and airpark living and am always working to keep them going and even start some new ones. I believe we should all be working to keep up/start new strips in our local flying area or one day you’ll have nowhere to go but to only the most funded/busiest airports left.
