Disaster Response and Recovery

As wildfires continue to devastate communities in Southern California, thousands of families are left without homes, belongings or even basic necessities. Entire neighborhoods have been reduced to ashes.

UMCOR is meeting urgent needs through support of the California-Pacific Annual Conference’s immediate relief efforts. Initially, we’ve provided emergency relief funding for food, water and essential supplies for evacuees and to bolster local volunteer efforts. And we’ll continue to offer support through long-term recovery. Click the button below to give now.

Stevens House Work Party

Picture

At our December Ministry Circle meeting, we voted to work on moving worship back to 10th and San Salvador in a large meeting tent in the backyard of Stevens House. In preparing for our return, you're invited to take part in work parties on Monday, January 20 from 1 PM - 4 PM and Saturday, February 8 from 1 PM-4 PM. Even if manual labor isn't available to you, you're invited to come be a part of the fellowship. If you have questions, please email Pastor Sam at [email protected]

Book Group Everyone Welcome

Picture

St. Paul’s Book Group is meeting Saturday, January 18th at 10:30 am at the Stevens House to discuss ‘The Nickel Boys’ by Colson Whitehead. Everyone is invited to join us in reading and discussing this book. It is based on the real story of a reform school that operated for a century and warped the lives of thousands. ‘The Nickel Boys’ dramatizes another strand of American history through the story of two boys unjustly sentenced. Questions: email Connie at [email protected]

Human Relations Day

Picture

Human Relations Day is a special Sunday across our denomination, focused on fostering better relationships and supporting community and youth outreach. On the Sunday before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, we celebrate and take up a special offering to help bring his vision of a “beloved community” to life. Your gifts support important programs like Community Developers, United Methodist Voluntary Services, and Youth Offender Rehabilitation. We invite you to use a designated envelope to donate in worship on Sunday, January 19 or give online, helping us continue this vital work together.
