National Home Care and Hospice Month allows us to thank those angels of mercy who tirelessly help sick people cope, help the elderly to age in place, and provide loving spaces for people at life’s end. Many home care workers selflessly travel miles to provide companionship and ensure patients’ houses are cleaned and meals are prepared. Those who work in hospices are committed to helping patients end their lives with dignity. Their compassion and attention to detail improve the lives of every person under their care. Their patience and time provide improved quality of life and peace of mind for family members. The month celebrates these qualities and so much more. So, thank a home care or hospice worker this month. Veterans Day Veteran’s Day is a tribute to military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Originating in 1919 when President Woodrow Wilson marked a year since the end of the First World War, the day coincides with other days of remembrance around the world. Not to be confused with Memorial Day, which honors those who died while in service, Veterans Day honors all military veterans, including the living.
