Letter from The President

Greetings Pittsburgh AIHA,

This year has been a roller coaster ride for everyone. Some view it negatively, while others view it as a time for opportunity. As President of the AIHA Pittsburgh Section, I think this pandemic creates an opportunity for us to show our worth as Occupational Health and Safety Professionals.  During this time, our community can observe our commitment and innovation as we evolve with the current situation.  During this year’s Summer Executive Committee meeting, held virtually in July, one of the priorities we set for ourselves was to ensure that we continue to show tremendous value and provide professional growth opportunities for our members. This will require us to focus our efforts, at least in the short term, on hosting interactive virtual live webinars. Be on the lookout for announcements in the coming months and plan your participation.

We will also increase opportunities for our students to network with our members. These events will provide an informal setting for students to meet, share information, network, and ask questions with some of our seasoned professionals.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, we encourage you, as members, to get involved and remain engaged in our activities, including but not limited to, attending events and professional development meetings, utilizing your eLearning (free for members) subscription, and serving throughout the various committees.

It is a true pleasure to be involved in our local section’s activities and I am grateful for all your support of this amazing organization. I am looking forward to seeing and working with you in 2020-2021. Let’s make our talents available to those who need it the most. This is our time to shine!   Go out there and make it happen!!

Sarmed Shareef, CIH, CSP

President, Pittsburgh AIHA
