Chapter News & Announcements

Disability Discussion This Saturday

Join us for a discussion on disability, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), especially the application process, this Saturday, January 18, 2025 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM ET. See the calendar on our Support Groups and Events page for the Zoom link.

In this presentation, we will outline the steps you need to complete in order to be approved for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Additionally, we will cover in detail how to file an appeal, should you be denied the first time you apply. We will share personal experiences from several individuals who have previously gotten SSDI. In addition to SSDI, we will review other government assistance programs such as Section 8 for housing, SNAP (previously called food stamps), energy assistance, and special needs trusts. We'll conclude with a Question & Answers period.

Used Light Boxes Available

A member of our chapter has donated their SunBox light boxes for the treatment of seasonal affective disorder, valued at several hundred dollars each. They are in good working condition, although some may need new light bulbs. For more information, or to arrange for pickup or drop off of these donated items, please email Alvin.
