Men’s Offsite Dessert Spirituality Retreat Join Pathways Retreat Codirector Evan Miller as he takes rest, reflection, and renewal on the road for a seven-night immersion in desert spirituality. Led by Todd Wynward , we will explore the desert spirituality of Judeo-Christianity’s wilderness prophets and desert monks in the wild, remote canyon country of southeast Utah. This event will be held in early October, 2022 and more information is available here. Contemplative Sit Monthly Practice Tuesdays, 8-8:30am Our contemplative practice for October is a meditation for connection. Inspired by Barbara Holmes, this meditation invites us to hold the pain and cherish the joy of our interconnected universe. Meadowlands Master Plan For the last month, a subcommittee of the Pathways board has been gathering feedback to a draft master plan for the space we call Meadowlands - a 3 1/2 acre parcel immediately East of the retreat house and the front labyrinth. In the next few weeks we'll compile this feedback and take it back to our designer to propose our final master plan. If you'd like to see the draft proposal, or have ideas you'd like to share with the subcommittee, we'd love to hear from you. Please email Evan Miller as soon as possible so we can talk about your ideas. Volunteer Thank You September was a month of many volunteers! An intergenerational group of over 40 people from 8th Street Mennonite Church collected butterfly seed and cut invasive smartweed. Some worked in pairs to cut the invasive Canada goldenrod and daub the cut stem with a solution to keep it from growing back. Goshen College students cut and stacked brush on their service day Bethany Christian Middle School students prepared soap bars to hang on small oak trees to repel deer, cut wire to wrap around new seedlings to keep rabbits out, cut invasives and stacked brush. We are so grateful for all of our volunteers. We truly could not do it without you! If you love working on land restoration projects or would like to bring your youth group for a time of service and a brush-burning fire ring, contact Betty Schrag , volunteer coordinator.
