COOL SPRINGS WINS AWARD

The "Juror's Merit Award" has been given to Larry's Cool Springs oil painting at the annual Janice Mason Art Show in Cadiz, Kentucky.

The former farm where Cool Springs stands is in the middle of a sprawling suburban shopping center with the same name just north of Franklin, Tennessee.  The old spring house is decaying but cool water still flows from its underground source.  Fog will lift as the sun rises higher.  The seasons change and Cool Springs gets older, but the oil painting has stopped time for a moment. Thanks to good friend, Aubrey Watson, professional photographer, for the research material.

If you live nearby, visit this fine art center that features some of the region's best works. Two other original paintings are also on display and for sale: Lightkeeper's House (Port Clyde, Maine) and Morning Stroll (deer at Radnor Lake). The show goes on until June 2.  Drive over, have lunch, see the show.

Oil Painters of America

Larry has been accepted as an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America (OPA). Founded in 1991 primarily to focus attention on lasting value of fine drawing, color, composition and light, OPA is the first national organization to be established for the sole purpose of perpetuating traditional, representational oil painting. Some of the most respected oil painters in the country are members.

ON THE MOVE - Clarksville, Tennessee is our new home! After retiring from Ducks Unlimited a few years ago, we found the perfect house in a rural setting near Waverly (TN). But, now it‘s time to get back to where we both went to college and where most of our friends live. Roberta and I grew up near here in Kentucky, and we found a townhouse on the bluffs that fitingly overlook the Cumberland River.  As Robert Frost so aptly put it, "Home is the place where, when you go there, they have to take you in."
