Following the success of Bluebell Club, I realised how many parents with younger children were desperate to get out into the woods too.   So there is now a Babes in the Wood group, running on a Thursday morning at Folkington and a Friday afternoon at Arlington.  It's a great escape, chance to chat to other parents and just to find some woodland peace!

And peace is what we found on our Mother's Day meditation day in March, with Zoe Carroll of Living Better.  Despite the chill we all appreciated the time for ourselves, and learnt some techniques for relaxation. It was also great to share our experiences over tea and cake!  Zoe and I will be running another session on July 14th, details soon.

As I write, I'm watching the hedges for the bursting of elderflowers...  I love making apricot and elderflower jam, and we'll do this at the Fire and Forage event.

Last year I made more elderflower cordial than I know what to do with, so I mixed it into some softly whipped double cream and froze... Goes beautifully with strawberries and shortbread

I've been taking "The Lost Words" to all my events to spread the understanding of this book.  It underlines all I'm working for, really.   To care for the world around us we first need to know what we are looking at, so we can connect with it.  For more on this theme see the About section of the website.
I'm really looking forward to The Lost Words event on 12th May.  We've been practising writing acrostic poems, and actually, if you take a moment to really look at something, it comes easily.

Come and find your bit of inspiring nature, and compose by the fireside with a hot drink.

WOODLAND PARTIES

I love running birthday parties at the little wood at Folkington.
I like the challenge of coming up with something to suit a child's interests - cats, dinosaurs and even a pizza restaurant!    Parties are held all year round.  Parties can be for grown ups too - not just for birthdays - you can meet for some wild cooking, wood craft or just forest bathing.  Just ask!

See www.cherrywoodadventures.co.uk/parties for details. Parties cost from £130 for an hour and a half for up to sixteen children.

Oh the lark in the morning

She rises from her nest
She mounts in the air
With the dew upon her breast
And with the pretty ploughboy
She'll whistle and she'll sing

And at night she'll return to
Her own nest again.

  See you in the woods!
