With our confusing weather this month, I'm not sure what season it is; but I do know that spring shows are coming! I will be at American Craft Made Baltimore show this coming weekend, March 3-5, at the Baltimore Convention Center. I will have new work to show in Baltimore: my Golden Woods series features a golden glow (or sometimes a silvery glow) along with flowing turquoise foliage. Kind of mystic looking, I think. Also, of course, I have new jewelry! Dawn Birds in the Forest Pink Textures Pink/Gold Posts Dreams of Lupins Behind the Bench -- the magic and travails of kiln formed glass I love working with glass. The colors, the way light reflects and bounces around, and especially the depth -- you can lose yourself in the layers of colors and patterns. But it can also be a trial -- waiting hours for the glass to be cool enough to peek into the kiln to see how it came out! Keeping track of how colors chemically react with each other (you would be surprised at what happen when you mix spring green and turquoise!) Maintaining the saws, grinders and drills that all have to operate with water, is a challenge. But look at the glorious result of all that in Dreams of Lupins! Making art is a labor of love. I was reminded of this today as the Baltimore Convention Center filled with artists preparing to present their work to the public. No one does this work to get rich -- we create because we have to, to satisfy our inner muse. Lucky us, that we get to do this work!
