Operation Feed

Your continual support makes this week possible.

This week Operation Feed will be very busy on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday, two teams will show up at Viva Mexico. First at 8 a.m. we will be bagging the beans, rice, soy, and oats for the weekly food bags. This is different than our normal Thurday bagging time, because we need to have the whole garden area of Viva Mexico ready for the Thursday clothing drive.

Operation Feed shares the garden area with Viva Mexico, so we are careful to make sure that we do not interfere with the restaurant days too much. After the despensa team has bagged up all the food, the clothing drive team takes over.

Wednesday no one will be able to eat out in the garden area, because by noon it will be stuffed with all the clothes you have so kindly donated. Each area is set up for specific types of clothes and sizes. Because of the work done by Jere and her team throughout the year, the work goes quickly on Wednesday.

Then Thursday morning, the despensa and clothing drive volunteers show up at 8:30 a.m. for instructions and last minute work. Beginning at 9:00, the people begin their shopping. Each group has 15 minutes to shop for a specific number of items based on their family size.

When they check out, they also receive their weekly despensa food bag.

And if we ever feel like it's asking too much of us, we just look to our role models. Cleo and John are always with us ... bright and early ... looking great ... ready to work!

It's a good week for the villagers of San Juan Cosala.

Clothes that remain will be donated to Tina Dawn Leon and the work she is doing with another very needy group of villagers.
