THANK YOU SECOND HARVEST FOOD DRIVE
Huge thanks to Milana McCullagh for leading our Second Harvest Food Bank donation drive this year. She got students, staff and parents motivated to bring in lots of food donations - we filled 5 barrels plus had SHFD bring in 5 more! Thanks also to Daphne Melendez, Dana Hartman and Madeline Bachman for organizing the hundreds of bags for students to decorate in their Ormondale "families".
And a BIG THANK YOU to everyone for their great donations!

EXTREME ENERgY ASSEMBLY UPDATE
What an amazing Science Assembly the students had last week! Our students felt energy through static charges, used heat to float a ballon and created energy themselves through peddle cranks!
They also got to see a thermal image of them selves through Flir.
Be sure to ask your student how they enjoyed the show!

THANK YOU CMS CAMPUS VOLUNTEERS!!!
Our first CMS Volunteer Day was amazing! Thank you so much to our 75+ parents and students that showed up to help last Sunday. With so many volunteers we can’t list everyone but I did want to call out special appreciation to Cyndi Maijala and Kristen Shima for all of the support and sharing their Sunday morning to open bathrooms, answer questions, pick up trash and chat with everyone.
During the morning the fence line was made litter free, campus area clean up finished, dead bushes removed, plants trimmed, 500 bulbs planted, PTO closet purged, lost and found project kicked off, garden area weeded, native area pruned, and even a few windows washed!
Brook Coffee was the bulb lady and Geoff Nuttall and Sarah Dorahy were “bulb leads” and all three among the last to leave campus. Sandi Engel organized the litter clean-up and brought fun snacks and prizes. And Kristen Dahm is leading the Girl Scout project updating the lost and found, it is now underway!
There were so many helping hands we far exceeded our expectations for the work and the fun factor.
SAVE THE DATE for April 14th -- our CMS Spring Volunteer Day!

CMS Spring Play Parent Meeting
CMS students have voted to perform Almost History: that whole space-time continuum thing as this spring’s play. It will be performed April 17 & 18, 2019 in the Woodside Priory School Performing Arts Center Theater.
The play is a comedy in which two people travel to great moments in American history via a time machine, and a group of famous geniuses tries to sort out the disastrous effects of the duo’s mishaps. Meanwhile, two teens from “today” watch via live-stream and narrate/discuss. The play has a large cast with great opportunities for character development, historical exploration, and a very salient meta-message about technology and connection today. It also has a number of technical and scenic considerations to challenge our student backstage crew!
Parents of any CMS student interested in acting or working crew are asked to attend this important meeting on Wednesday November 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the CMS Music Room to learn about the play and the audition/rehearsal/performance schedule and stage-crew opportunities. We will also discuss expectations for students’ and parents’ responsibilities and volunteer needs.
There is no cost to participate in the play as either an actor or crew member, and all CMS students are eligible to participate. The play is being produced by PVSD in partnership with Portola Valley Theater Conservatory.

Successful Volleyball Season at CMS
Congratulations to the CMS 7th grade girls volleyball team on an excellent season! Our lady panthers finished the regular season in 4th place, beating the number one team in their final match before playoffs. A huge thanks to Karyn Bechtel and Jordan Koch for coaching, Coach Cox for organizing, all the parents cheering in the stands, and our 7th grade friends who came to scrimmage during practices!
The 6th grade team found tremendous success in the final weeks of their season. They won their last two games in undefeated sets and went on to play in the second tier championship playoff. Many thanks to Carrie Davis for coaching.
CMS 4th/5th girls also had a fun season, learning volleyball basics and improving their skills. The girls joined the 7th grade volleyball team at a Stanford women volleyball game where they were able to meet the Stanford team in the locker room before the game. Many thanks to Jenni Farrell and Cori Moesta for coaching the 4th/5th team.
Hope to see even more players next fall!

measure z
We are thrilled with early results of Measure Z!
A 61% YES vote shows that our community is supportive of our schools and understands our need for Measure Z.
We know that there are votes still to be counted, but are encouraged by early numbers. We believe that the results from the rest of the ballots will continue to be as strong. Meanwhile, we will wait for a definitive count from our County officials in the coming days.
On behalf of the entire Yes on Z campaign team, I want to thank everyone’s support of Measure Z and our local students!
Best,
Anne
