The Holiday Fund was established in 1994 and has made over $8 million in grants to community organizations in the Palo Alto area. The fund supports local nonprofits benefiting kids and families. We are grateful to report that for the third year in a row, RTE is a grant recipient, receiving $15,000 in May. Lisa Van Dusen, PACF Executive Director For over 45 years, the Palo Alto Community Fund (PACF) has provided charitable grants to effective organizations that improve the quality of life for everyone in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto and Menlo Park. We are thrilled to announce that for a third year in a row, PACF has chosen RTE as one of its grant recipients, awarding $10,000. RTE and other recipient organizations were recognized at a celebration event on June 5th at the at the Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo. Finally, we would like to thank our generous donors who supported our annual May fundraiser which took in $46,920 to support 25 new scholars from Paly’s Class of 2023! Supporting our new scholars On May 16th, we held a New Student Orientation for our 25 new scholars from Paly's Class of 2023. Mentor Amy Friedman with Josué Vasquez The purpose of this event was to teach students about the many ways that RTE will support them throughout their college experience, as well as to foster a sense of community. Stephanie Valeros Barrera The students heard a presentation by board member and RTE alumnus Dami Bolarinwa, broke out into smaller groups to meet with their mentors, and then convened for pizza and conversation. At the end of July, we will host a College 101 Workshop for the college freshmen as well as our Annual Meet & Greet for all current scholars and alumni. Want to make a difference in your community?
