Spring/Summer 2022

President's Letter - June 2022

Happy Summer, Pittsburgh Local Section!

I hope that everyone is taking full advantage of these beautiful sunny days we have had before things heat up to our normal summer highs. It’s not only the time for re-installation of window AC units at our homes, but also a good time to remind ourselves of some summer health and safety best practices. Take some time to review the OSHA Heat Illness Prevention Campaign (https://www.osha.gov/heat) and information surrounding the announcement of the recent National Emphasis Program (NEP) on preventing work-related heat illness in indoor and outdoor workplaces (https://www.osha.gov/news/newsreleases/national/04122022). This was a big topic of discussion at AIHce in Nashville last month. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this NEP as well as any commentary on your experiences at AIHce on our Catalyst page – feel free to share your perspectives or lessons learned.

We have a few exciting events, both technical and social, coming your way this summer and fall. I look forward to getting back together face-to-face and having a chance to connect with everyone again after a few challenging pandemic years. It’s been an honor to serve as the president of the local section the last year and I wish all the luck to Lt. Timothy Beck as he transitions into the role this summer. Thank you to all of those who continue to volunteer their time and talents to keeping our local section running.

Stay safe and hydrated!
