Its time to mark your calendar!

This is an informal opportunity to network with others who are also interested in getting children connected to nature.

All are welcome, bring a friend.  Be sure to bring your lunch, we look forward to seeing you there.

Eagle Creek Park Naturalist, Heidi Shoemaker, coordinates the preschool program offerings at the Earth Discovery Center and recently attended the Natural Start Alliance Conference in Manchester, New Hampshire. This conference is considered the nation’s largest professional event focused on nature-based early learning. During this brown bag lunch, you’ll hear about her experience at the conference to see if it is something you would like to attend in the future (hint: it’s headed closer to home in 2020!). In addition to learning about the conference, Heidi will discuss the variety of early learning opportunities the Earth Discovery Center has to offer and how each one fills its own special niche. Participants are welcome to explore the Earth Discovery Center and the park after this program. Eagle Creek Park offers two nature centers, so plan to hike (about a mile) or drive to the Ornithology Center after lunch if you want to check out the nature center that focuses on birds.

After RSVPing to this program, participants may enter the park through either the 56th Street or 71st Street gates. Let the gate staff know that you have RSVP’d for the ICAN lunch and you will be granted park admission free of charge. Once inside the park, follow the signs to the Earth Discovery Center. Please note that Google directions often don’t include time from the gates to the nature centers. The drive is usually around 7 minutes.
