Collect Prayer

God of compassion, whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary, shared the life of a home in Nazareth, and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself: strengthen us in our daily living that in joy and in sorrow we may know the power of your presence to bind together and to heal; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

LIGHT A CANDLE OF HOPE:
A NATIONAL CALL TO PRAYER ON MARCH 22 AT 7PM.

A National Day of Prayer and Action has been announced by the presidents of Churches Together in England, re. the Coronavirus epidemic, for this Sunday, March 22. Read Now

In an excerpt from a joint letter they wrote: “At such a time as this, when so many are fearful and there is great uncertainty, we are reminded of our dependence on our loving Heavenly Father and the future that he holds. Therefore, at 7pm (GMT) this Sunday, light a candle in the windows of your homes as a visible symbol of the light of life, Jesus Christ, our source and hope in prayer.”

Wherever you are in the world, we invite you to join with us in prayer to see an end to the Coronavirus pandemic.

WAYS TO PRAY AND WHAT TO PRAY FOR

All Saints isn't closed...

The church building will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 6pm to offer a quiet place to pray (please adhere to social distancing if you intend to visit).

During the rest of the week the church will be used as a Foodbank and support centre for the local community. Please pray for this aspect of our church life, especially hold in your prayers the Foodbank team, our volunteers, and those coming for help.

Re-purposing the Car Park...

For the foreseeable future we will be using the car park at All Saints for NHS staff working at Treliske. Currently staff at the hospital have to pay for parking. With the Government decision to invite retired healthcare professionals to return to work Jeremy has offered the church car park for use by any NHS workers free for the duration of the COVID19 outbreak. Please pray for the hospital staff, the NHS and all its workers.

Morning Prayer

Each day Jeremy at All Saints, and Janette at Epiphany House will keep morning prayer. If you would like to join with us from home you can use the common worship website for the words and readings. Click Here

More ways to pray at home

We have shared a small booklet of ‘ways to pray at home’. Originally produced in Wakefield Diocese this booklet may be a great support to you and your prayer life at home. You can download it here or collect a copy from the church.

Mothering Sunday intercessions

Today is Mothering Sunday and so we wanted to include some intercessions that would remind us of this important day in the church calendar. You may wish to pray this today. You can download them here or collect a copy from the church.

Items for prayer

  • Please pray for the volunteers and users of the Foodbank and Acts 435.
  • Pray for staff and patients at Treliske and other hospitals.
  • Pray for school staff, parents and children, especially the most vulnerable, who may not be any safer at home.
  • Pray for the family of Terry Allison whose funeral will take place on Tuesday 24th March.
  • Pray also for the family of Janet Wright whose funeral will take place on Wednesday 25th March.
  • Pray for the Pastoral Team as they stay in touch with members of our community and attend to those in the local area with particular needs.

Nothing can separate us...

A few thoughts to consider whilst self-isolating, and for all who are limited to non-essential travel! There are many examples of people in the bible having to either self-isolate or forcibly isolate from others. Here are four prayers to consider whilst at home.

Picture

1. Feeling separated from loved ones?

Romans 8:31-end reminds us that ‘nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus’. (Pray the words - Thank You, Lord Jesus).

2. Feeling anxious?

After the death of Jesus, the disciples self-isolated out of fear and the desire for self-preservation. John 20:19-29 shows how Jesus, raised from the dead, miraculously found a way into the locked room and announced peace to them all. (Pray the mantra – Maranatha! – Come, Lord Jesus)

3. Feeling frustrated that you can’t gather with friends?

Technically speaking, the Apostle Paul is under arrest for about five years during his ministry. Although about two and a half years of this period is spent in a literal prison cell, the rest is spent either under house arrest or being escorted by a Roman soldier from Jerusalem to Rome. (Philippians 1:18). (Pray the song ‘In Christ alone’ by Stuart Townend.)

4. Feeling lonely

Isaiah 49:15-16 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” (Pray through Psalm 139).
