CREW DUES - 2nd Installment Due

Thanks to everyone who submitted the first of three Ridgewood Crew fees payments, your continued support is greatly appreciate.  Payment 2 of 3 is due on February 15th.  Please make checks payable to Ridgewood Crew and mail or drop in mailbox to Jeff Johnson, 325 Mastin Place, Ridgewood, NJ  07450.  If you have any questions, please reach out to me directly, (201) 452-8545.

FLU UPDATE

It has come to our attention that a few of our Crew rowers are out with the Flu. This started as a fever and then morphed into a cough, runny nose, etc. In order to combat the spread, we will be wiping down the ergs with alcohol wipes. Please remind your rower to cough into their elbows, wash their hands, and keep their hands away from their faces. The CDC has put out some excellent information this year regarding what to look for, good hygiene, and who is most at risk of complications. Please see the links below.

MANDATORY MEETING

There will be Mandatory meeting Tuesday, February 27th at 7:30pm in the Campus Center for all parents. We will cover Row-a-Thon, spring season schedule and training, fundraising, logistics for Cities and Stotesbury Cup, pasta parties, nutrition.

ROW-A-THON

Row-a-thon will be held Saturday, March 24th, 10am to 3pm. Information will be gone over at the Mandatory meeting on February 27th.

COACHES CORNER

We will be off for February break starting Friday, February 16 and Returning Wednesday, February 21st for regular practice.

Regarding Captain’s Practices

Coach Boris will confirm the morning practice after looking at the weather. He will do so around 9pm the night before. Only those athletes that are sleeping 8 or 9 hours will be allowed to run. If parents believe that their rowers have not slept enough, rowers will not be allowed to go to early practice. 
Going to the early morning practice without enough rest will have a negative result.

CAPTAIN PRACTICES

Early Morning Captain Practices – Not mandatory but suggested
  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings - 5:45am to 6:30am.
  • Meet at the High School weight room.  

EASTER BREAK SCHEDULE

The Easter break schedule will be as follows for mandatory practice. The only day off will be Easter Sunday. 

  • Thursday March 29 - times/ location TBD.  
  • Friday March 30 - times/location TBD
  • Saturday March 31 - times/location TBD
  • Sunday April 1 - no practice. 

As soon as the spring schedule is finalized, the times and location for training will be updated. Practices will be held at PRAA or the High School. 

This will be last weekend of training before we begin our spring racing season with our first regatta on Sunday, April 8 in Philadelphia. Please be aware that only excused absences such as illness or family emergency or those listed in rower contract will be accepted.
