One of the key topics covered is the tenant fee ban with information from the AIIC (Association of Independent Inventory Clerks) and government legislation.  We have also included links and reminders on gas and electricity legislation changes. Finally we have also provided some interesting information on the London East-West divide.

Tenant Fee Ban

Tenant fee ban to come into effect from 1st June 2019. Landlords and agents will not be allowed to charge tenants for a variety of services.  Below are links to the changes and legislation.

Remember,

  • Without professional inventory reporting the deposit will go in favour of tenant/s
  • Impartial independent inventory reporting may become mandatory in future
  • Agents must be professional and still use independent reporting at entrance as well as exit
  • Incorporating inventory professional services shows an agent as professionals in the letting market place
