Galentine's Day at Make Studio
In February, we celebrated our first Galentine's Day at Make Studio in partnership with Into the Neighborhood. Thank you so much to our sponsors and volunteers that helped to make this event possible. We were able to serve over 100 women and bless them with a lunch, raffles and prizes, an art activity, and an inspirational speaker. We are already saving the date for Feb. 10th, 2024, for our 2nd Annual Galentine’s Day!
Our Team Is Expanding! Meet Mary Miller.
In February, Mary Miller, a long time volunteer at the studio, joined our team as the Associate Director of Marketing and Studio Assistant. Mary brings with her years of experience in graphic design, marketing, and visual art, and has a special place in her heart for the ministry work of Make Creative Studio.
Mary is passionate about merging her creativity with her work in Richmond doing outreach to women trapped in sexual exploitation and trafficking. She believes that creativity and the visual arts play a vital role in God's desire to bring redemption and hope to the world through His people. In addition to working at the studio, Mary is a freelance graphic designer and visual artist. You can view Mary's creative work online at fireflydesignstudio.co.

Art & Recovery for Men's Groups
Did you know we work with men in recovery as well as women? Men from McShin Foundation come every other week to spend time in the studio and make creative projects like the one pictured above. We are honored to serve the recovery community in this way. If you know a mens’ group or recovery group that would be interested in participating in art therapy, please email angie@makestudiorva.com.

Women's Art and Recovery Nights
Our Women's Art and Recovery Nights have been full of shared special moments, deep conversations, laughter, and friendship as we enjoyed meals and made creative projects together. We are so grateful for our partnership with Into the Neighborhood that helps to make this connection possible.

Creative Retreat with Christ Presbyterian Church Women's Group
We were excited to welcome Christ Presbyterian Church to Make Studio on March 3rd for a portion of their women’s retreat. Ladies were given the opportunity to create a mixed media canvas and explore the layers that God calls us to put on - but also take off - as seen in Colossians 3:12-13. We really enjoyed exploring the healing power of our Creator through art with the women at Christ Presbyterian Church. Are you interested in having a retreat at Make Creative Studio for your church? Email angie@makestudiorva.com.
Art Adventures with Imago Dei Neighborhood School
|
Students from Imago Dei Neighborhood School in grades K-4 will join us for a special adventure: creating art in the studio, observing their own artwork in a special gallery, and spending time on the playground as well as eating lunch together.
We are looking forward to having students join us for our first Angie's Art Adventures Field Trip!

Youth Life Foundation of Richmond
|
What a fun time we had making this project with students from Youth Life Foundation! Students used recycled objects to make their own "jug heads", and seeing their creativity come to life was so inspiring. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with this wonderful organization and partner with the amazing work they do in our city on their Fun Friday Field Trips to the Studio.

Birthday Parties at the Studio
Did you know that we offer themed birthday parties at the studio? When booking a party, guests can choose a theme that best fits the group they want to entertain. Everything from spaceships to unicorns are made in the studio, and projects are customizable! As well as a fun creative project, parties include time on the playground and a place for snacks, cake, and present opening. Click here to inquire about our birthday party offerings.
