from the governing board of trustees of pvsd:
Portola Valley School District Superintendent, Roberta Zarea, Named Association of California School Administrators, Region 5, Superintendent of the Year
Portola Valley School District Superintendent, Roberta Zarea, has been selected by her peers as the Superintendent of the Year for the Association of California School Administrators (“ACSA”), Region 5. ACSA Region 5 comprises the 25 school districts in San Francisco and San Mateo counties, with over 300 schools serving 158,000 students.
An accomplished leader in her third year with the Portola Valley School District, Superintendent Zarea has led the District through some of the most challenging times in public education in this country. PVSD, with Zarea’s leadership, brought students back to campus before most other districts in the Bay Area and throughout the State. The District continues to offer students a meaningful and safe on-campus experience. Zarea also oversees the new building projects at both schools in PVSD, supported by the funds provided by the passage of Measure Z in November 2019. Superintendent Zarea leads the District with integrity, passion, and fortitude. Zarea is beloved by her colleagues and by her partners in the community.
The ACSA Award celebrates leaders who put students first and advocate on their behalf, who draw upon the passion and talent of others to develop a shared vision for education, and who build strong consensus and have a commitment to action. Superintendent Zarea embodies these qualities. Zarea will receive the award at the ACSA Celebration of Leadership in Spring 2022.
The Governing Board of the Portola Valley School District, along with the District’s administrators, teachers, staff, students, and families, congratulate Superintendent Zarea on this well-deserved achievement.
