Summary of the Avon Outdoor Learning Center The Avon Outdoor Learning Center (AOLC) began back in 1985 when an elementary principal began forming trails in the woods behind Maple Elementary School. Now this 2 acre site boasts 2 miles of trails, a restored 1840’s cabin, amphitheater that seats 100 and prairie, woodland and riparian habitats for students to explore. Serving all 12 Avon public schools and anyone else who wishes to bring students for immersive learning adventures, the OLC serves around 10,000 students each year.
