It all started in 2014 when we obtained 400 original vintage copper printing plates used to print ERB books from a collector who had stored them in their basement for the past ten years. It was only after sorting the bunch that we discovered we had all but 5 of the plates used to print ERB’s Back to the Stone Age, which was first published in 1937. That was the birth of ERB Books and The ERB Limited Edition Collection.
After securing a licensing contract with ERB Inc., we published the first title under their imprint since I Am a Barbarian was published in 1967. Securing an agreement with Grosset & Dunlap, owned by Penguin Random House proved to be quite a challenge. But by late 2015, we got the go ahead to publish for the first time a G&D edition of Back to the Stone Age. This was the first new G&D ERB title published in 75 years. We eventually published three more new G&D ERB titles.
