Got the winter blues today? Our annual Shad Night meeting is just one week away! We hope that snow and ice will be a distant memory next Wednesday, so come join us. Meet some great people and learn more about the outstanding shad fishing on the Potomac.

This year we feature a new documentary, Shad Run, by local filmmakers Becky Harlan and Ben Dorger. An accidental meeting on the street resulted in the two deciding to make an environmental film focused on our immediate natural world. Though not anglers, Harlan and Dorger quickly settled on the fascinating but often overlooked story of rebounding American shad in the Potomac. We have highlighted some of this material before but never in such a beautiful way. The film artfully raises awareness about the life cycle of DC’s official fish while following the efforts of the next generation to return the run to its former glory.

Come early to Shad Night to mingle, talk with experts and peruse the silent auction. Stay late for a slide show recapping last years incredible American shad run and tips on how to catch more shad. Here's the schedule:
