October 2020 Our New Home - Farm Renovation Update Exciting things are happening! Farm renovations are well under way. We have been busy preparing our new home for clients and our herd of horses. On the farm, we're working with contractors to remove and replace fencing, and we've demolished several out buildings in order to rebuild safe structures specifically for equine-assisted psychotherapy services. We’ve installed a new septic system, a new roof on our barn and are underway with interior renovations to get ready for our herd! Everyday we step onto our farm we get closer and closer to our vision and more excited to share our forever home with our community. We will continue to post more updates on our progress, we cannot wait to celebrate with all of you in the future! Opportunities to Be Involved - Coming Soon! Stay tuned to hear about opportunities to support and get involved with the Gateway HorseWorks' mission and vision! In the next month, we'll share about how to connect , give , and volunteer with our organization in new and exciting ways! Join the Campaign to #EndtheStigma Mental Illness Awareness Week According to the National Alliance for Mental Illness , 1 in 5 adults in America experience mental illness in their lifetime. For #mentalillnessawareness week we joined with our community to #endthestigma and encouraged everyone to Connect, Educate, and Advocate for Mental Health. Click the posts below to learn more! News and Media Plaidcast: The Plaid Horse Magazine Listen now to this episode of the Plaidcast to learn more from Kristen de Marco, Executive Director, about how horses are helping people's mental health. "Believing in the healing power of horses and wanting them to be accessible to everyone rather than an elite experience, Kristen is leading the way by developing, promoting, and providing equine-assisted learning and equine-assisted psychotherapy services throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region." Community Spotlight This month we are taking the opportunity to shine the spotlight on two incredible organizations that have greatly impacted our ability to serve and build the organization that we are today: Chester County Women's Commission (CCWC) and Chester County Fund for Women and Girls (CCFWG). The CCWC believed in Gateway HorseWorks' mission early on and funded trauma-informed programs for women, like Stable Pathways and Galloping Home . This seed money enabled the programs to flourish and build a foundation that could expand beyond pilot programming and built a sustainable model later supported by CCFWG. Through these programs and partnerships, together we have deeply impacted dozens of lives in Chester County providing access to mental health care through equine-assisted psychotherapy. Please check out these two incredible organizations and the expansive impact they have had and continue to have throughout our community. Herd Highlight: RIMTIANA Rimtiana is a great presence at our farm. Adopted out of New Bolton Center's Reproduction Program along with Fannie, Rimtiana brings a unique and attuned energy to all of our client sessions. The largest of our herd (physically, because we know no one could out-shine Nova), Rimtiana connects with our clients as a gentle giant. join us on social Media |
