Hello all!

Whether you are an Indiegogo backer, artistic collaborator, or a musical theatre fan, we’d love to thank you for your being a part of this incredible year. 2022 was full of exciting productions that would not have been possible without the numerous fellow artists and supporters who joined us on this journey.

As the year draws to a close, we'd like to take a look back on the work we've done together. Here's a quick recap of what Magritte & Rosen have been up to in 2022:

Safe Hands: A Virtual Musical Event

In the spring of last year, we assembled a team of over 20 artists to develop and produce a virtual production of our original musical,Safe HandsWith the support of over 50 Indiegogo backers and an incredible cast and crew including the fantastic Jen Jacobs, Bethany Ostrander, and Cameron Asharian, we pulled together a unique bicoastal, hybrid production that premiered online in May and was then featured in the 2022 Rogue Theater Festival.

SheNYC Arts Festival

On the heels of the virtual production, we were thrilled to be accepted into the 2022 SheNYC Arts Summer Theater Festival, where Safe Hands was produced on stage in full for the first time ever at the Connelly Theater. We were lucky to have Jen return to direct alongside music director Slade and producer Jesse Rudnick.

We sold out every performance at the Off-Broadway house and ended up winning the festival’s award for “Best Score.” It was truly unreal to hear these songs come to life in real space. For those of you who were able to join us, thank you for sharing in something magical.

The 1950s Aren't So Far Behind

Safe Hands was never written to be a political parable, but sometimesin the worst of wayslife imitates art. We would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the Dobbs decision in June of this year that stripped so many Americans of their reproductive rights. We stand in solidarity with those who have been left behind by this ruling and urge you to consider donating to one of these organizations.

Additionally, if you’re in New York, Alara’s song "Snow One Else for Me" will be featured at Urban Stages' Winter Rhythms Festival tomorrow, December 8th. Alara developed this snowwomen love song with composer Sonya Hayden as part of Playdate Theatre’s 2020 musical development conference. All proceeds from the event go to Urban Stages’ Outreach, a city-wide program that tours and makes available online free plays and art programming for all ages.
