The Blue Rooster Hosts Selwyn Birchwood

Picture

With his fiery guitar and lap steel playing, his trailblazing, instantly memorable songs and gritty, unvarnished vocals, Selwyn Birchwood is among the most extraordinary young stars in the blues. His deep familiarity with blues tradition allows him to bust the genre wide open, adding new sounds, colors and textures, all delivered with a revival tent preacher’s fervor and a natural storyteller’s charisma. Selwyn and his band have crisscrossed the U.S. and Europe repeatedly, delivering unforgettable live performances. With his new album, Pick Your Poison, Birchwood, along with his band—saxophonist Regi Oliver, bassist Huff Wright and drummer Courtney “Big Love” Girlie—takes a major step forward, crafting visionary blues for a new generation of forward-looking fans.

          Tinsley Ellis Rocks The Dome!

          Picture

Since his first Alligator album 30 years ago, Tinsley Ellis has become a bona fide worldwide guitar hero. The Chicago Sun-Times says, "It's hard to overstate the raw power of his music." Armed with his signature molten licks, melodic riffs and rousing, intense solos, Ellis, as his legions of fans will attest, is among the blues world's best loved, hardest working and most well-traveled statesmen. Ellis' latest Alligator Records release, “Winning Hand”, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart.

"Feral blues guitar...non-stop gigging has sharpened his six-string to a razor's edge...his eloquence dazzles...he achieves pyrotechnics that rival early Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton." --Rolling Stone

The Sauce Boss Stirs Up Skipper’s!

          Picture

A legendary performer (as chronicled in Jimmy Buffett’s 1999 hit “I Will Play for Gumbo”), Bill “Sauce Boss” Wharton brings his Florida slide guitar blues, his gumbo, and his own hot sauce to every multi-sensory performance. His show includes a culinary demonstration with audience stirring and sampling the gumbo. Sauce Boss is a powerhouse of energy with his one-man band. One morning in the early ‘70s, The Sauce Boss walked out of his house and found a 1933 vintage National Steel guitar in his front yard. That lead him down the Blues path. The Sauce Boss is the only personality that’s been featured in “Living Blues”, “GQ”, AND “Gourmet Magazine”
