this Week for Wild Wonder at Home

We love seeing our friends Follow along!

Bugs and Insects! We use these terms interchangeably, though they are different! Bugs are one type of insect. True bugs, as they are called, have a straw-like mouth. Some true bugs are stinkbugs, assassin bugs and others. Ladybugs are NOT actually bugs! And spiders are neither bugs nor insects! And what about snails? Where do they fit in. This week we explore the living worlds of the tiny animals that live in our yards. Enjoy!

Ms. Amy

What insect friend did Ms Amy see in her backyard? Do you know if a worker ant is a boy or girl? Ants are an important living thing, how can we live alongside them?

In this lesson, we find 6 different nature items & attempt to create these 6 different colours with our own paint. Find a tray, container, or old egg carton to fill with your nature items and try mixing reds, yellows, and blues together to see what colours you can make! If this is tricky, Miss Jasmine has some tips on how to create orange and purple! Afterwards, we use the very colours we create to paint an insect. For a bonus activity, find a place for your coloured butterfly to camouflage into! Can your family and friends see where you hid your butterfly?
