Coty, Muguet des Bois (1941)
In France, on May Day (May 1), which is named La Fête du Muguet (Lily of the Valley Day), bunches of the petite buds are sold on the streets and worn in lapels. It is the only time of the year each citizen is allowed to sell flowers in the street. The scent of muguet, known here as lily of the valley, has inspired perfumiers for centuries. It is a British native: the 16th-century Gerard's Herbal describes it as growing "on Hampsted Heath, foure miles from London, in great abundance".
Lily-of-the-valley represents the quintessence of spring, and is often used in religious ceremonies and celebrations. It was also believed to protect gardens from evil spirits, and was utilized as a charm against spells cast by malicious witches. It was considered to be the favored bloom of fairies, who used its tiny bells as cups from which to drink.

Lily of the Valley, reconstitution of a mute flower
There are flower scents that are impossible to extract.
These are called silent flowers. These flowers, whose scent perfumes the garden or the room when in plant form, give no essence. To the great despair of perfumers, they cannot appreciate an absolute or an essence of lily of the valley, honeysuckle, white lily, gardenia, jacinth, syringa or even sweet peas.
Regardless of the extraction process, steam distillation or extraction with volatile solvents, nothing works. It takes the work of the perfumer to reconstitute the scent of these flowers. This is called reconstitution and each perfumer has his or her own way of perceiving and restoring it.
What is a reconstruction?

A good perfume would be incomplete if it is not contained in a sublime bottle that you will want to keep for the rest of your life!
Today, the issue of plastic-metal-glass packaging and its recyclability has become a major challenge for the perfume industry. Redesigning packaging, making it sustainable and more valuable will definitely reshape the world of perfumery!

How to Become a Perfumotherapist?
Perfumotherapy is a discipline of merging aromatherapy, natural perfumery and olfaction training without synthetic substances involved.
| |
In 1998 I created Perfumotherapy to combine the art and beauty of natural perfumes and natural aromatherapy, the beneficial power of thousands of flowers and plants, with the physiology of olfaction allowing each human being to reconnect with nature for healing and wellbeing. At the time, it was too early to be launched. Now, with the need to reconnect with nature never greater, Perfumotherapy’s time has come. Perfumotherapy is distinct from aromatherapy or perfumery in that it includes foundational olfaction training and does not allow any use of synthetics. Perfumotherapists have a background of natural aromatherapy, natural perfumery and natural olfaction training.
