In last week's pulse survey, we asked what you're most grateful for about your school's community this year. We're so glad we asked you to share... it's a heartwarming reminder of how lucky we are to work with such caring people and amazing schools. Read a few of the statements of gratitude below and keep an eye on our Twitter account (@one_schoolhouse) over the next week where we'll be tweeting out the rest!

"The faculty's adaptability, resilience, wisdom, and constant consideration of what is in our students' best interest, even though, because teachers are working so hard, it's not always immediately apparent. When we look back though, we'll be amazed not only at how much we accomplished in such a short period of time, but also the extent to which we met so many diverse needs (unfortunately sometimes sacrificing our own). I only hope each teacher knows how deeply they have impacted their students' lives. I look forward to thanking each and every teacher face-to-face in the near future. Teachers are extraordinary humans."    Sara Deveaux, Loomis Chaffee School (Windsor, CT)

"Our teachers' emotional energy and our students' resiliency. The kiddos have been an inspiration to us all - they've adjusted to the new routines of our in-person learning with humor and a matter-of-fact attitude that allows the adults around them to adjust and take a breath. I'm so grateful to all of these people, little and big."  Liz Buchan, Tower School (Marblehead, MA)

"I'm most grateful for my school community's care for one another's wellbeing. Although I haven't been in the same physical space as my coworkers for 8 months, I feel more connected to them than ever. I feel lucky that in this time of crisis, my community has pulled together. I feel that my community truly cares about each person - teachers, staff, and (especially) students."  Corina Rahmig, Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart (Bellevue, WA)

"The patience and compassion that my colleagues have demonstrated for one another. There is a real understanding of the challenges that we are all facing, and there is a true team mentality of getting everyone through this together with kindness, support, and patience." Crystal Boyd, Santa Catalina School (Monterey, CA)

"I am very grateful for the warm welcome that I have been given as a new member of the community amidst this difficult time in schools. I am also grateful to be a part of a caring school culture that focuses on unity and serving thy dear neighbor without distinction." Kathryn Purcell, Saint Joseph Academy (Cleveland, OH)

“It is not happiness that brings us gratitude, it is gratitude that brings us happiness.”

Gratitude is infectious. It's important that we model two of the most important lessons in life, having a positive attitude and being gracious, especially about aspects of life that are challenging.

When students see adults thanking others and giving gratitude, they're much more likely to follow suit.
