Tom's Pantry

Tom's Pantry for the week of July 20th 2020.

Baking and delivering this week!

Hello Folks.

I assembled a baking schedule on my website: http://www.tomspantry.ca/.

I will bake this Friday July 24th for pick up at my home on Friday evening.

I will attend the Vankleek Hill Farmers Market this Saturday July 25th from 9.30am to 12.30 pm. The market is now open for pre-orders and for public browsing.

I will deliver to homes on my trip on Saturday to Vankleek Hill. I will travel through Crysler, Limoges, Casselman and St-Isidore on the way there in the early morning. But this week, I will NOT return through Alexandria, Maxville, Apple Hill. I will be on a short holiday for the weekend after the market event.

I need your order please by Thursday evening 8pm in order to prepare enough levain overnight. See the product descriptions and ordering considerations here. And then, view the price list and order online with Local Line

Next week, July 30th I will be at the Parkdale Farmers Market in Ottawa and I will perform home deliveries in Ottawa and in the region west of Berwick.

There is a minimum order of two loaves for a home delivery on a scheduled route.

Take advantage of my organic flours and baking ingredients, also available in the virtual store.

A land of a thousand pleasures

Another stay-cation opportunity, we re-discovered the Thousand Islands National Park over the last weekend. Gananoque has many great affordable accommodation options. We enjoyed the Country Squire Resort with private jacuzzi, outdoor pool, and the enclosed court yard.

We found our stamina and completed a 60-km round trip by bike on the paved bike path from Mallorytown Landing to Gananoque and back again. The next day, we found solitude, peace, and a gentle mixed forest with rolling hills on a multi-hour hike in the park on the Jones Creek Trail.

This week's feature is mighty bagel

It was tricky. It took some practice and some errors. But I figured out how to make sourdough bagels.

This week's feature is the bagel. I have plain white bagels for the moment. I can top them with sesame seeds upon request. My bagels are soft and delicious. They make great sandwiches or toast with cream cheese.

Order your 6 organic white bagels for $10.

Parkdale farmers market!

Last week, I started at the Parkdale Farmers Market in Ottawa. I am there every Thursday 9am to about 3pm, or until I am sold out. The public reacted well and welcomed my new initiative. To my surprise, the organic nut-butter tarts were very popular, more so than any bread.
