The purpose of Good Neighbors is to help families and individuals in times of crisis and need with clothing, emergency food and support.

    We are happy that Toni Amos is healing well after surgery and hope she is feeling better soon. Toni serves as a Good Neighbors Trustee and volunteers at our Cuyahoga Falls Unit with her husband Mike. 

    January through June, our volunteers gave 7,945 hours to serve 5,933 families which included 20,602 individuals (2,633 seniors / 10,552 adults / 7,417 children).
    Our volunteers have been working during the hot and humid summers  without air-conditioning. Thank you to Bill Wise and Paul Iacobucci  for installing cooling units the last weekend in June, our volunteers and clients really appreciate it!
    Tom Fischbach visits our food center when he is in town. His grandmother Laura McClure founded Good Neighbors in 1957. 
    Continued prayers for Judy Wilson and her mother. Her husband Bob Wilson is a past trustee and a great supporter. Bob recently made
a very generous financial donation in honor of our past food center manager George Camilletti.
    Continued thoughts and prayers for the Wise Family. 
    We are happy that Lynn Roberts is healing well after surgery and has returned to volunteer on Wednesdays.
    Tuesday volunteers Jerry & Lisa McLean, Beth Stalnaker Burch  and past Tuesday volunteer Holly Aughenbaugh continue to financially support our food center. Lisa McLean made birthday kits with cake and party supplies for our clients.
    Our generous volunteers often donate much needed items to distribute to our clients. Thursday volunteers Flo Iacobucci and Bonnie  Zupkow donated a large amount of macaroni & cheese and baby wipes.
    Cece Fox made a generous donation in memory of her mother  Marjorie B. Fox who was a past volunteer of Good Neighbors.
    Melissa Jane Rusnak made a generous donation from the proceeds of her business DBA Scratch-N-Stitch Designs.
    Cara McGuiness completed her school project highlighting our organization and designed new posters. She volunteered on Tuesdays throughout the school year with her grandmother Nancy Broderick.
    Thank you to Acme for the Community Cash Back funds and to everyone who turned in their receipts.
    We receive weekly donations from Whole Foods, Panera Bread and Giant Eagle.
    At the end of the school year, Sam Salem CLC and Barber CLC held food drives for our food center.
    So far this year, Bath Church, First Church of the Brethren, Grace Baptist Church, Harmony Springs Christian Church,
St. Mark's Lutheran Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church have supported our food center.
    Our City of Akron Council Representative Sharon Connor is getting additional outdoor seating for our clients. We appreciate everything that she does for our food center.
    After volunteering for 15 years, Valerie Straw has left Good Neighbors. We are grateful for her service and dedication. She coordinated the food drives, distributed school supplies, served as our past council president and volunteered on Mondays. Becky Kroah has taken over the client intake desk on Mondays and is doing a great job.
    Mike Letta, Jenny Siebert, Debbie Hayden, Bill Sudduth, Kathy Frye, Paul Iacobucci, Bill Wise, Bob & Lynn Roberts, Roger & Susan Reynolds, Kelli Heid, Bill Genovese and Gail McAlister pick up our orders and donations throughout the week. 
    John & Julie Bates' grandson Tyler and Becky Kroah's granddaughter Sophia are volunteering over their summer break with their grandparents.
    We are fortunate to have past food center manager George Camilletti helping out when needed and still serving as a trustee.
    Kathy Frye manages our food center and keeps it clean, places orders for food and supplies, and picks up the orders.
    Bill Wise maintains our food center, office and annex buildings and property. He placed safety railings inside our food center and has made many other improvements to our buildings. He serves clients on Thursdays, picks up food orders throughout the week and serves as the Trustee Chairman for Good Neighbors.
    Charlene Nevada Krummel serves as the Good Neighbors Ways & Means Chair. She writes the grants to fund our Food Center and the Central Office of Good Neighbors. 
    Our food center is open Monday through Thursday from 12-3 p.m., every week of the year, we do close for holidays.

    Thank you to Jenny Siebert for donating and planting flowers around our food center and annex buildings. She does this every year. She serves as our Good Neighbors Council President, volunteers on Mondays and picks up orders and donations from the Food Bank, Whole Foods and Schwebel's Bread. 

Cuyahoga Falls Newsletter - April - June, 2025

Donors:
We sent over 300 postcards Highlighting what we accomplished to our donors who generously contributed financially during 2024.  We created and mailed a slick that included data on clients served, pounds of food, holiday program and School Supply Giveaway results.  Feedback was extremely positive!
Our breakdown of purchases also showed our donors where their contributions were utilized: 
26% Cereal, soups, boxed items
23% Fresh fruits and vegetables
20% Dairy, eggs, butter, juices
14% Frozen items, bacon, cheese, condiments
11% Meat, poultry, fish, protein items
6% Personal care items, dental, soaps, diapers, various other items
Donations
Many thanks to all the individuals, churches and businesses who support us each month.  
St. Eugene's, Knights of Columbus and the Foresters Group held a donation drive for us in late March.  We received over 180 pre-packed toiletry bags to distribute during the year.
HiHo Brewing Company & Restaurant - Held a Cleaning Supply Drive for us during April.  They have started a campaign to collect school supplies for our School Supply Giveaway.
Portage Community Bank - continues to support us with bi-weekly hard working volunteers.  They are the best!
TPV Poke Center - donated a percent of their tee-shirt sales.  Their contribution was over $1,200.  They plan to open a Gift Shop with Cuyahoga Falls memorabilia and give us an ongoing % of Sales. What great partners.

Silver Lake Country Club has chosen Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors as its recipient for its Charity Golf Classic.  We tee off at this beautiful golf course at 10:00 am on Sunday, August 10th!  

School Supply Giveaway: it's that time of year again!  We will invite over 700 students to our Annual School Supply Giveaway.
Many of our business donors are holding School Supply Drives in the month of July!

    Chris Krinjeck Bolyard manages the Ellet Unit and reported that any clothing and food donations would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you to Gio's Restaurant, they held a Give Back Tuesdays  fundraiser in June to benefit our Unit.
    Client visits continue to increase. 
    This year, we had to close at times due to the weather and volunteers suffering with COVID.
    Thank you to our volunteers and donors for their help and support.

    Patricia Stiles manages the Green Unit and reported that they  received a grant from the City of Green to purchase eggs for their clients who are residents of Green. 
    Nancy Hall created a Logo, QR Code for electronic donations and set up a Facebook Page for their Unit. After designing the new logo, shirts were made for our volunteers to wear on Wednesdays and at events. We have tote bags and may get hats made with the new logo. An Amazon Gift Registry was designed for school supplies and a QR Code was made to send supporters directly to the Amazon Registry to purchase and then directly send to Good Neighbors. If this registry is successful, we may do it for other promotions.
    On Saturday June 28, six volunteers attended the City of Green's Freedom Fest to collect school supplies that will be given out to our clients in August. The City advertises and encourages people to donate school supplies for our back to school program. It was a good day. Many donated school supplies and others donated money. If there are school supplies still needed, we will purchase those supplies.
    We have great community support and wonderful volunteers.

    Wilma McMasters and Lee Thomas manage the Superior-Wooster Clothing Unit and reported that they are always in need of new underclothing, baby diapers and personal care items.           
​    They are grateful to Green Good Neighbors for assisting with clothing donations and to Centenary United Methodist Church for allowing them to use their building.
    Continued prayers for Lee Thomas and her health concerns.

    Candy Lorkowski manages the Tallmadge Unit and reported that they would like to especially thank Tallmadge Elementary School for all the Easter goodies for the Easter baskets, and Our Lady of Victory Church for their generous donation to purchase gift cards for Easter.
    We would also like to thank our outstanding community for their continued support!  Wishing all a happy summer!
