President's Message

by Renee Cowell, President, Pittsburgh AIHA

Picture

Greetings everyone,

We are embarking on a new AIHA Pittsburgh Chapter year. So thrilled and honored to be President this year and we plan to have many meeting topics and tours of interest. I encourage you to be actively involved in the Chapter whether it is being an officer, presenting, participating in meetings or simply volunteering your time. Having members involved is the only way that we can continue to bring new ideas forth and inspire everyone to learn new tools and techniques of the Industrial Hygiene profession.

With MASHA, Carrie Blast Furnace tour and other activities already this year, we are grateful to have so many students who are interested in joining the Chapter but more importantly thinking about specializing in Industrial Hygiene. Students are becoming more and more active in the Chapter and we appreciate the advice and mentoring that each of you does to help them.

Special thanks to our sponsors and many new members to the Chapter already joining this year. Plans are in place for a number of interesting areas including learning more about Cannibis and its impact on worker health and safety.  We have also invited Ms. Kathleen Murphy, CIH, President of AIHA to speak at our local chapter President’s Luncheon next year in February or March.

More surprises and fun ahead as we continue to invigorate our members. Should you have any suggestions or questions, please feel free to reach out to any members of the Executive Committee including myself.

Respectfully Yours,

Renee A. Cowell, CSP
