CREEK READY for RESIDENTS' R&R

Picture

Take a walk along the Southbridge creekbank to restore your spirits during Covid-fatigue! Diane Winters, Board President and chairman of the landscape committee, recently authorized Ryan's Tree Service to clear the scrub palms and underbrush from the creek bank in preparation for residents' return to beautiful views.

John Ribes, founder of JRL Design Studios - landscape architect from Naples toured last week and said, "The creek ... is a positive amenity for the community as a whole. It is a serene, calming environment that lends itself to a quiet lifestyle. There is a great opportunity to capture its scenic beauty for all of Southbridge to enjoy."

Bring your:

  • Lawn chair, your book and your favorite beverage to relax under the oak trees on a sunny afternoon.
  • Camera to get some great shots of birds, alligators, turtles, and even an occasional river otter.
  • Rod and reel for a catch-and-release fishing experience. The large-mouth bass really have large mouths!

Be aware that you are in sight and sound of residents who live on the creek, so maintain the tranquility.

ADDITIONAL LANDSCAPE UPDATE

Ryan's Tree Service will begin pruning birds of paradise, palms and oak trees next week. They have already pruned and fertilized the hibiscus trees. Southbridge will be looking its best when the snowbirds return!

SOUTHBRIDGE 2021 BUDGET and MONTHLY FINANCIALS ONLINE

Picture

Unlike many other communities in Pelican Landing, the Southbridge Association dues will NOT go up in 2021. P&M Property Management distributed the 2021 budget by email or USPS, but it is always available to residents for quick reference online.

To ensure transparency, David Morrison, BOD Treasurer, posts updated financials each month on the residents' Financial Records page of the Website.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE!

Picture

The Board of Directors sincerely appreciates the many residents who work together to keep Southbridge a hospitable place to live! Recently, Darla and Bob Landgren, Mark and Lonna McNally, and Connie and Bob Melaik cleaned and sanitized the cupboards, appliances and tools in the pool kitchen, leaving it sparkling clean and rodent-free ... just in case we have an opportunity to gather there once again!

SECURITY UPDATE

Picture

Pool: The activation of cameras and key fobs was delayed by Hot Wire's having to install a new router. Each fob has a unique number registered to your residence; the fob numbers are being entered into the system by the staff at P&M Management. You will be notified in advance of the activation by newsletter or special email.

As of this publication, nearly 100 residents, or their neighbors, have picked up their fobs.

  • If you want a neighbor to get your fobs for you, email the office of P&M Management: [email protected]with your authorization for release of the fobs to (name of neighbor) and the address of your residence.
  • Email [email protected] a day or two before your arrival to arrange a time for pick-up of your fobs, or for your neighbor to get them for you.

Like most watches or other electronics, the fobs are water-resistant, but not water-proof. The fobs are smaller than a house key and easily attached to a key ring. Each residence receives two fobs; replacement or additional fobs are available for $4.25 per fob.

Perimeter Fencing: Southbridge has hired a surveyor to establish where the boundaries are, but the company has not yet completed the survey. Pelican Landing has agreed to fund all fencing

Neighborhood Watch: Until the fobs and cameras are activated, keep an especially watchful eye on our community. In the last few weeks, cases of paper towels, toilet paper, boxes of trashbags, and other paper/plastic goods disappeared from the storage cabinet in the ladies restroom. The cleaning service replaced the items, but, of course, charged for the replacements.

 REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY or VANDALISM

  • Add the Pelican Landing Privacy number to your contacts on your cell phone: 239-992-7522
  • If you see suspicious persons or activity, or discover vandalism within Southbridge, notify Privacy immediately.
  • Report the incident to Southbridge BOD after contacting Privacy.

UPDATE YOUR INFO; SAVE YOUR LIFE

Message from Bill Riley

We introduced a new benefit less than a year ago and to date an impressive 43% of Southbridge residents have taken advantage of it!

Imagine the wasted critical time if you had a serious accident or medical emergency and none of your neighbors knew whom to contact on your behalf? This happened; it is a real-life scenario!

Accordingly, last year we expanded our Southbridge Social Directory* to include an optional field for an I.C.E. (In Case of Emergency) telephone listing. For privacy reasons the names of contacts are not used.  If you so desire, you can indicate a relationship such as: bro = brother, dtr =daughter, fam = family, frn = friend, hus = husband, sis = sister, son = son,  wif = wife, lawyer=law, etc.

We have made many changes in our directory.  Please take the time to make sure that it shows your correct email address and contact telephone number(s).  Also, please consider adding an I.C.E. contact.  It is cheap insurance!

Directory listing changes and/or additions can be made by emailing Bill Riley at [email protected].

HOW TO VIEW OR OBTAIN A DIRECTORY

  1. Log on to the Southbridgelanding.com website.
  2. Go to the “My Account” menu.
  3. Scroll down to “OWNER CONTACT.”
  4. Next, scroll down again to “ OWNER CONTACT by Street Address” or “OWNER CONTACT by Name” and click on “Download file."

*NOTE: Southbridge Owners’ Directories are strictly “social” in nature and maintained solely to provide Southbridge residents with the opportunity to become acquainted with others within the community and to receive local Southbridge Newsletter emails. These directories are not cross-indexed and do not share information with Pelican Landing, realtors, local or state authorities or others that might be used for solicitation, legal notices, taxes, billing, etc.

MISCELLANEOUS MEMOS:

  • OUR Landscaping is *NOT* YOUR Landscaping  As a community resident, you have agreed to abide by the rules, regulations and by-laws of Southbridge and Pelican Landing. You cannot, for example, make material changes to the outside of your unit without permission from the Board of Directors. The association documents are posted on the Website. Please review the various documents to be sure that you understand them and abide by the processes to request change.
  • Keep your recycling and trash "up close and personal." The pool trash and recycling bins are only for detritus left at the pool. Please do not put your remodeling debris, furniture cartons, or your garbage in the pool bins. Either use the bins at the Community Center or, if you are leaving town, ask a neighbor or your home watch service to put it out for the scheduled pickup.
  • Spread the Southbridge news. Any resident, renter or interested person who has an email address is welcome to receive the Southbridge newsletter; many couples receive individual copies. Send a request to [email protected] to be added to the list. Although nonresidents may receive the newsletter, only residents have access to the private pages on the Website.
  • Check your listing in the residents' contact information on the Website. Bill Riley updates it regularly. You will need access to the private pages to read the contact information. Request access by going to the Login/Register tab on the Website. You can update your information by emailing Bill at [email protected] .
