Greetings from Sunset Lodge! Our summer season is off to a great start. Fishing has been fantastic and things are really greening up around here! We recently had our annual NW Angle meeting with staff from Lake of the Woods Soil and Water Conservation District, MN DNR Enforcement, Lake of the Woods County Sheriff, U.S. Customs, U.S. Border Patrol, CBSA, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary & U.S. Coast Guard. Once again we learned that our Lake of the Woods Fishery is in great shape. Our walleye & sauger population are robust! We have some exciting news about US Border reporting! As you know, if you fish up in Canada in the summer and touch land or come in contact with another vessel, or in the winter if you cross into Canada, you are required to travel to Young’s Bay and report your re-entry into the US via the OARS phone located there. We are hoping to have a tablet available at Sunset Lodge in June that guests can use to report their re-entry into the US! This will be much safer and take considerable less time. Please note, you will need a valid passport, MN enhanced driver’s license or a Real ID to use this system. A driver’s license & birth certificate will not be accepted. New at Young's Bay! Join us for our annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 1 st ! We are happy to welcome back The Wrecking Crew. We have limited lodging availability so let us know if you can make it! We plan to have a band for our annual Oktoberfest Celebration on Saturday, September 30th & also for our 2nd Annual Valentine’s Day Dance on Saturday, February 10th. We have fishing packages, rental boat & fishing guides. We also provide guests with a free paddle boat and canoe. Paddle boards are available to rent for $10 per hour.
