Good Neighbors, Inc.
2015 Year End Summary Report

Mission Statement:
The purpose of Good Neighbors is to help families and individuals in times of crisis and need with clothing, emergency food and support.

Organization Information:
Good Neighbors is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3), charitable organization.
Form 990 is filed with the IRS annually. We are registered with the Ohio Attorney General and with the BBB. Audits are completed annually.

Good Neighbors is a volunteer-run organization with only one part-time paid employee that serves as the Treasurer and Secretary. Over three-hundred volunteers operate our seven locations.

It was a simple beginning when friends Laura McClure and Frances Watson, helped a family in need with clothing.

Since 1957, Good Neighbors has grown from the basement of these two caring women, to the first organized unit in North Hill, to fourteen centers. Currently, Good Neighbors operates seven locations.

Good Neighbors emphasizes the person-to-person approach, believing that the people we serve need the personal interaction of our caring volunteers, rather than an impersonal hand-out. We are people helping people, offering and hand-up, not a hand-out.

Families and individuals throughout the community are helped with clothing and emergency food, free of charge. Some of our units offer layettes, diapers, dental supplies, personal care supplies, back-to-school supplies and have Christmas giving programs.

Visits are permitted every thirty days with a referral and identification. Written referrals from social agencies, churches, schools, hospitals, doctors, veterans and disability services are accepted. Referrals can be obtained from Info-Line at 330-376-4850 for food and 330-376-6660 or 211 for clothing.

Good Neighbors relies on donations and financial contributions from individuals, businesses, foundations, schools, churches, civic and social organizations, to help serve those in need.

Donations of non-perishable food, clothing, coats, shoes, diapers, formula, baby food, blankets, personal care items, cleaning supplies and small household items are always needed.

Donations and financial contributions are tax deductible. Financial contributions can be mailed to our Central Office or to a Good Neighbors Unit in your community. Please specify which location you would like your contribution to benefit.

During the 2015 year, our seven locations gave groceries to approximately 20,773 families and clothing to approximately 8,316 families. Our volunteers gave nearly 43,000 hours of their time, to serve those in need.
