DR. SEUSS DAY!!

“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.” - Dr. Seuss

It was a super fun day! We got dressed up or wore our PJs, did lots of fun reading activities, had surprise classroom guest readers and topped the day with a ORM Honors party with lots of colorful treats! The students and teachers had a blast.

Thank you to all our guests readers who came in and read their favorite Dr. Seuss books.

Our SUPER Awesome School Counselor, Ms. Miller did an amazing job organizing a fun ORM Honors party for our students. Thank you Ms. Feelings!!

Writing Contest Turns 3rd-9th Graders into Published Authors

Youth authors are unleashing their creativity with Society of Young Inklings in the 11th annual Inklings Book Contest. Young writers (grades 3-9) are invited submit original short stories and poems by March 15, 2019. Up to 20 winners will receive one-on-one mentorships with authors to learn firsthand the professional process of revising work prior to publication. Revised stories and poems will be published in the annual Inklings Book Anthology, to be released in August 2019. Details on submission can be found at www.younginklings.org/inklingsbookcontest.

Society of Young Inklings pairs professional writers with youth in online mentorships, courses, and publishing programs. mountain camp

Making the world a better place by positively impacting campers and staff though the camp experience.

For the past four years, Mountain Camp Woodside has partnered with the Stanford University Graduate School of Education and Challenge Success to study how participation in our summer camp provides children with opportunities to develop critical 21st century learning skills. The results have been overwhelmingly positive and confirm what we have always believed - camp provides outstanding opportunities for kids to practice empathy, creative problem solving, personal responsibility, self-control, perseverance, teamwork and communication.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch this VIDEO to learn more about why camp is such a powerful experience for children.

Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions about this research and the impact that it has had on our camp program.  Thank you.
