We rang in our 10th Anniversary with a drawing party featuring all-star cast! Standing, left to right: Sergio García Sánchez ( Lost in NYC: A Subway Adventure ), Frank Viva ( Sea Change , A Trip to the Bottom of the World ), Jaime Hernandez ( The Dragon Slayer: Folktales from Latin America ), Françoise Mouly. Sitting, left to right: Liniers ( Written and Drawn by Henrietta, The Big Wet Balloon , Good Night, Planet ), Kevin McCloskey ( Snails Are Just My Speed , The Giggle and Learn Series ), and our youngest talents: It's all in the details! Sergio sharpens dinosaur teeth. Edie commissioned Kevin to draw an on-the-go poodle. Beatrix and Bert with the finished piece. Edin and Kevin drew a pastoral scene. Owen and Jaime Hernandez jammed on a robot-drawing contest. Kevin and Jaime collaborated... ..on a pig who's "very angry because he got caught in the rain." We smiled for pictures... "Don't they have razors in this country?" Sergio, Kevin, and Liniers. ..and signed books. There's no better team leader than Kevin! On a panel led by Birgid Alverson, Jaime talked about growing up with comics. Kevin shared delightful facts about our favorite critters (and lead a workshop on how to draw them, too!) Frank Viva threw a party in his studio... Ron Wimberly, Peter Birkemoe, Frank Cammuso, and Lewis Trondheim. Frank Viva generously lend his studio... ...cartoonists flocked to the rooftop!
