Our new product, the H1-D, was launched with a limited Beta pricing offer in November last year. Interest in this product has been significant across many sectors, which is important to us as it is part of our long-term strategy for growth.
The H1-D is an innovative and leading-edge hardware/software platform that will be used as the basis for many follow-up products. Thus, getting this product technically stable, performant, and reliable before we ship has been critical to our credibility as a commercial audio solution provider.
Our capable engineers and manufacturing partners were confident we could ship these Beta devices in Q1 this year. However, some challenges in primary hardware supply delayed shipping much longer than anticipated.
The H1-D is built on a newly developed ADI platform that utilizes the power of both the SHARC DSP and ARM CPU cores. These SoCs finally arrived in mid-June. Since then, the team has been working tirelessly on final integration and testing.
Though we had all primary codecs working, our testing revealed that the critically important Dolby® family codecs were running in demo mode, even though we had all licenses in place.
This last major technical issue bottlenecked our ability to ship all the completed units in June, as we had promised our Beta clients back in April. However, by working closely with the ADI engineers, the issue has been successfully resolved. :-)
We are now in the final testing and QC mode and are confident that the H1-D will be available from September, with the Beta units shipping from early/mid-August.
We have a comprehensive software stack planned for the H1-D, with many partnerships established but as performance stability is paramount for us, the plan is to ship all initial units with a limited yet robust Dolby® / DTS® / Dante® / AES67 stack, with other codecs (AURO-3D, 360 Reality Audio, and MPEG-H, etc.) available in firmware updates in the following weeks/months.
Our system for firmware updating has been well tested and performs well. Once these first units are shipped, we expect to supply regular updates expanding capacity and performance.
