A Message from Bill Yacopucci -

Chair of the Board of Directors...

Welcome to our Second Franklin Gear - Makerspace Newsletter!

It is an exciting time in Franklin. From Mill City Park to the Stevens Mill Project - and all of the revitalization taken on by Todd Workman - so much potential and opportunity!  We don't want anyone left behind...

A makerspace is about having fun building and creating.  But it can also be a place to start a new business.  It is possible to rent a studio space for your specialty.  Have all the materials and tools specific to your craft as well as 24/7 access to all of our equipment.  Utilities, including Wi-Fi, are covered in the rental.

Missed out on vocational tech classes in your high school years?  It is never too late to explore the possibilities. Come and find what you love to do!  Classes at Franklin Gear can give you the skills needed for great advanced manufacturing jobs in Franklin and the surrounding area!

Franklin Gear is in negotiations to acquire space in the heart of Downtown Franklin! We anticipates opening its doors in the winter of 2021-2022.  Now is a great opportunity to join us in designing and building the space!

Monthly Board Meeting

Interested in what a makerspace is and does? Come visit us at The Franklin Cafe tomorrow - September 2nd at 7pm.  Find out how you can get involved!

Meet Your Maker

Mike Atkins

  • 3D Printing
  • Learning Systems
  • Social Media

Mike graduated from SNHU with his Master’s in Education, he taught there, was an advisor for grad students, and now is an instructional designer with SNHU. He is in love with the teaching and learning process and likes to research anything and everything.
He lives in Franklin with his wife, 2 sons, and pup. He is a true maker at heart. He likes to work with wood, making whatever needs to be made, tinkering with most anything, and recently decided to dive into the world of 3d printing and modeling. He is a huge fan of the “heck, I could buy it, but I will just make it” mentality. Outside of making he likes PC gaming, fishing, cigars, and hanging out with the kids.

Shops 'Til You Drop

A makerspace is a collection of workspaces and tools that members have access to.  While there are certain staples - Wood Shop, Machine Shop 3-D printing - we can choose what other shops we'll include.  Since we are in a pre-opening stage you can have some input on the other shops we add.  Here are just some of the possibilities:

  • Bicycle Building & Repair
  • Electronics & Robotics
  • Fiber Arts Studio
  • Commercial Kitchen
  • Fine Arts
  • Pottery/Kiln
  • CNC Laser Cutter
