10 Questions

Picture

This week's 10 Questions interview is with Dr. Lucy Chen, a pianist who moved to Jacksonville in 2014 when she began working as an Assistant Professor of Music at Edward Waters College (EWC), Florida's oldest historically black college. It was during that same year that Chen founded Keys on Parade, an initiative that provides tuition-free group piano programs to students in underserved neighborhoods. During the 2017-2018 academic year, Chen was named Chair of the Music Department at EWC. She also was selected to serve as a teaching artist in residence during the pilot year of Lift Every Student, a collaborative arts integration program between Any Given Child Jacksonville, the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, and Duval County Public Schools. The inaugural year of the program was made possible due to the generous support of David Engdahl, a private donor and Jacksonville based sculptor, and PNC through their Arts Alive grant program

Annual General Fund Giving Campaign

Picture

The Cultural Council's two main objectives of its Annual General Fund Giving Campaign are to form stronger donor relationships and to raise funds for the agency's general operations. Leading into the new calendar year, we have set the goal of building relationships with 2,018 individual contributors.  Whether you make a small gift of $10, make a pledge of a re-occurring sustaining gift, or make a large dollar contribution, your support of the Cultural Council enables the agency to advance its mission of investing in arts and culture to enrich life in Northeast Florida.  You can make your contribution as an individual, family, foundation, or business.

Visual artist and Jacksonville native R. Land created a special Cultural Council 2018 design, which is available on vinyl stickers, tote bags, t-shirts, and as fine art screen prints at different giving levels.  This is the first year of commissioning artists from our region to create year specific collectable items and the Cultural Council will continue on this tradition in future years.
