Weekly Chicago Update

  1. NHL: “All I do is win win win no matter what,” that’s probably what the Chicago Blackhawks are singing right now. They’ve had an impressive February, winning all games but one. They tied their own franchise record for 7 consecutive road victories. More importantly, they’ve beaten the Minnesota Wild, possibly the best team in the league, twice this month. Last night’s win against the Arizona Coyotes was just, you know, the ush.
  2. NBA: The Chicago Bulls had the week off, but their management was busy getting their ducks in a roll. They traded away two players, one of whom is known as the “heart and soul” of the Bulls. Taj Gibson is 31 and has been with the team for 8 years. The Bulls are looking to build a younger team.

Droppin' Knowledge

You can say the NBA trade market was bullish this week. A lot of trades happened, because the NBA trade deadline was Thursday. After yesterday, teams cannot trade their players anymore until this season is over in June. Over the past weeks, the rumor around Chicago was headliner Jimmy Butler was getting traded. That didn’t happen, but the Bulls might make it happen in June. Butler is one of the best in the league right now, so the Bulls should be able to get a lot in return for trading him. They might’ve passed on trading him now to build his value up even more. If Butler can lead the Bulls to the playoffs this season, then teams are going to offer up even more valuable players and draft positions to get him. The Bulls are going long on Butler.
